KALOTI PRECIOUS METALS LABORATORY THE FIRST TO BE ACCREDITED BY DUBAI MUNICIPALITY

  • Kaloti Precious Metals, one of the world’s largest gold and precious metals refiners and trading houses, is pleased to announce the accreditation of its precious metals testing laboratory located in Dubai, UAE. The company's laboratory was accredited by the Dubai Accreditation Department, part of Dubai Municipality. Kaloti’s gold laboratory is the first private sector laboratory in Dubai to receive ISO 17025:2005 accreditation in the field of gold assaying and analysis.

ISO 17025:2005 is the globally recognised standard of accreditation for testing and calibration laboratories. Specifically developed in 2005, it covers testing, sampling and calibration performed using standard methods, non-standard methods, and laboratory-developed methods.

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental, standard-setting body, which includes representatives from 165 national standards organisations. Its Central Secretariat is based in Geneva, Switzerland.

Commenting on the achievement, Monzer Medakka, Co-CEO of Kaloti, said: “We are delighted that our testing laboratory in Dubai has received ISO 17025:2005 accreditation – a recognised global industry standard. We are the first private sector precious metals laboratory to be awarded this status in Dubai, and it is testament to Kaloti's ongoing commitment to best practice and world class standards within the industry. We are proud to be at the forefront of the precious metals industry’s drive for increasing transparency and quality assurance for consumers.”

Ms. Amina Ahmed Mohammed, Director of the Dubai Accreditation Department, said:  “The first private sector gold assaying testing laboratory in Dubai has been accredited by the Accreditation Department. The accreditation follows the department’s recent request that all private testing laboratories apply international standards of best practice, to determine their technical competency and administrative efficiency, and to provide consumers with a clear means of identifying and selecting reliable service providers. The Dubai Accreditation Department is currently engaged in a long-term project to ensure quality assurance for consumers, and to raise the level of technical services provided to the market, so that Dubai remains competitive on a global scale."
